Abandoning Earth: Venturing into space and colonizing other planets may be our only chance for perpetuating our species. The degradation we have set in motion to the ecosystem may be irreversible, and if not yet, if we keep polluting the environment, given time there is little doubt that most life on Earth will perish. Future generations may not be able to fix the problems. If we are indeed living on borrowed time, then the question is will our technologies advance enough before that critical moment when abandoning Earth is the only option. As long as Earth isn’t suffused in radiation, no doubt technology will create sustainable environments, much as the concept of umPODS, which could sustain some population in confined environments. Wouldn’t it be more practical to develop umPODS first before the planet is totally trashed and we have no choice but to live in true biospheres?

Although much can be said for seeking out new worlds in the cosmos, it may be better if we never reach such goals given our track record thus far on Earth. It’s not that we can’t live in sync with Mother Nature, it’s just that laying Earth to waste to make money is more important to  too many people. Commerce in general may be a practical way to share the workload to create a fair standard of living for the masses,  but there are too many pitfalls in a system full of graft and chicanery that are detrimental to business and ultimately the health of our environment.
